Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup optional
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, salt, black pepper, sage, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, and maple syrup (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ½ inch thick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the sausage patties to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess grease.
