Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Mexican blend
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish optional

Method

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground turkey. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the turkey evenly.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and simmer for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  6. While the turkey is simmering, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.
  7. To assemble the tacos, place a generous scoop of the turkey mixture onto each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and avocado slices.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve immediately.
