Step-by-Step Instructions for Quick Refrigerator Pickles
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of salt. Heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring until the sugar and salt fully dissolve.
  2. Once the sugar and salt have dissolved, remove from heat and allow the brine to cool for approximately 10 minutes.
  3. While the brine is cooling, wash and slice the cucumbers into uniform rounds or spears. Layer them in a clean jar along with the garlic cloves.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of mustard seeds and 1 tablespoon of dill seeds between the layers of cucumbers. Add crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
  5. Once the brine has cooled adequately, carefully pour it over the layered cucumbers, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  6. Seal the jar tightly with its lid and place in the refrigerator. Allow them to marinate for at least 24 hours for the best flavor.
