Ingredients
  

  • 12 large cremini or button mushrooms stems removed
  • 1 cup Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined.
  3. Place the mushroom caps on a baking sheet, hollow side up. Spoon the filling mixture into each mushroom cap, packing it slightly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
