Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted butter softened
  • 8 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed for about 3-5 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  4. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
  5. Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
