Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk and honey (if using). Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Gather any scraps, re-pat, and cut out additional biscuits until all the dough is used.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
