Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat, about 375°F to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, finely chopped red onion, and olive oil.
  3. Add chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the mixture.
  4. Crack a large egg into the mixture and combine well until uniform consistency is achieved.
  5. Divide the mixture into four portions and form each into a patty about ¾ inch thick.
  6. Cook the patties on the preheated grill for 5–6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5–6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. During grilling, place whole wheat buns on the grill for 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  8. Spread salsa on the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a patty on top, add sliced avocado and cilantro, and cap with the top bun.
  9. Serve and enjoy with your choice of sides.
