- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat, about 375°F to 400°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, finely chopped red onion, and olive oil.
- Add chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the mixture.
- Crack a large egg into the mixture and combine well until uniform consistency is achieved.
- Divide the mixture into four portions and form each into a patty about ¾ inch thick.
- Cook the patties on the preheated grill for 5–6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5–6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- During grilling, place whole wheat buns on the grill for 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Spread salsa on the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a patty on top, add sliced avocado and cilantro, and cap with the top bun.
