Step-by-Step Instructions

  3. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the mixture, combining until creamy.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add it to the wet mixture.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  6. After chilling, scoop tablespoon-sized portions, roll into balls, and coat in cinnamon sugar.
  7. Make deep indents in the center of each ball with your thumb and fill with apple butter.
  8. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Let cool briefly before transferring to a wire rack.
