Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing the small onion into thin strips and set aside.
  2. Preheat your pan over medium heat while you prepare other ingredients.
  3. In the preheated pan, add a tablespoon of olive oil and toss in the sliced onions. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, ground cumin, and other spices. Add them to the pan with the sautéed onions. Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden.
  5. Remove from heat and let the chicken cool slightly before shredding into bite-sized pieces.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with the sautéed onions and remaining spices. Mix well.
  7. On a clean surface, lay out the flour tortillas. Spoon an even amount of chicken mixture onto each tortilla, sprinkle cheese, and roll them up tightly.
  8. Heat more olive oil in the same pan. Once hot, carefully place flautas seam-side down and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve warm topped with sour cream, pico de gallo, or guacamole.
