Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk for icing

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top.
  7. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  8. Cut the log into 8 equal pieces and place them in the prepared cake pan, cut side up.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes in the pan.
  10. While the rolls are cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the icing.
  11. Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls before serving.
