Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of warm water and 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast. Allow to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3½ cups of all-purpose flour and 2 teaspoons of salt. Create a well, add yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Turn the sticky dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, spreading it out. Make dimples across the surface.
  6. Drizzle 3 tablespoons of olive oil over the dough, sprinkle with minced garlic, grated Parmesan, and optional herbs.
