Description

Super Tender Sesame Donuts that melt in your mouth, perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds (plus extra for topping)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in the sesame seeds.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donuts and holes.
  8. Carefully place the donuts in the hot oil, frying a few at a time for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  9. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  10. While still warm, sprinkle with additional sesame seeds.
  11. Let the donuts cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can bake the donuts at 350°F for 15-18 minutes instead of frying.
  • For added flavor, consider dipping the cooled donuts in a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
