Savory Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a delicious and healthier meal option, perfect for those looking to enjoy a flavorful dish without the carbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
- Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and diced bell pepper to the skillet, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped mushrooms, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, and sesame oil. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the mixture is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- To serve, spoon the beef mixture into the lettuce leaves and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or use tofu for a vegetarian version.
