Description
Savory Chicken Dumplings are delicious, homemade dumplings filled with a flavorful chicken mixture, perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add water and vegetable oil, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a 3-inch round cutter.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop the dumplings into the boiling water, cooking in batches if necessary. Boil for about 6-8 minutes or until the dumplings float to the surface and the chicken is cooked through.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground chicken with finely chopped mushrooms and tofu.
- Add a pinch of chili flakes to the filling for a spicy kick.
