Description

A fun and festive recipe for Patriotic Rice Krispie Treats, perfect for summer celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup red candy melts
  • 1 cup blue candy melts
  • 1/4 cup white sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Press the Rice Krispie mixture evenly into the dish using a spatula or your hands.
  5. In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the red and blue candy melts according to package instructions, stirring until smooth.
  6. Drizzle the melted red candy over the Rice Krispie treats, followed by the blue candy. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the colors together for a marbled effect.
  7. If desired, sprinkle white sprinkles over the top for added decoration.
  8. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, add in 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips or M&M’s to the Rice Krispie mixture before pressing it into the dish.
