Description

A delicious and crunchy Honey Butter Chicken recipe that combines the sweetness of honey with the savory flavor of fried chicken.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the flour mixture.
  5. Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet and let it rest for 10 minutes to help the coating adhere better.
  6. In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  7. Carefully add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  8. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, honey, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  10. Drizzle the honey butter sauce over the fried chicken or toss to coat.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, try double-dipping the chicken in the buttermilk and flour mixture before frying.
  • For a spicy twist, add a teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce to the honey butter sauce.
