Description
A delicious and crunchy Honey Butter Chicken recipe that combines the sweetness of honey with the savory flavor of fried chicken.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the flour mixture.
- Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet and let it rest for 10 minutes to help the coating adhere better.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Carefully add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, honey, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Drizzle the honey butter sauce over the fried chicken or toss to coat.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crunch, try double-dipping the chicken in the buttermilk and flour mixture before frying.
- For a spicy twist, add a teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce to the honey butter sauce.
