Description
A delicious and crunchy recipe for Honey BBQ Chicken Strips that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1 cup honey BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
- Dip each chicken strip first into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each strip is well covered.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken strips in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches).
- Cook the chicken strips for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken strips from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a large bowl, toss the cooked chicken strips with the honey BBQ sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately, or keep warm in a low oven until ready to serve.
Notes
- For a healthier version, bake the chicken strips at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, instead of frying.
- Experiment with different sauces, such as buffalo or teriyaki, for a unique flavor twist.
