A light and fluffy vanilla frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
Ingredients

- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed for about 3-5 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add a little more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- For a chocolate version, add 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to the frosting mixture.
- To make a flavored frosting, substitute vanilla extract with almond extract or add a few tablespoons of fruit puree for a fruity twist.
