Description

A delicious recipe for caramelized pulled beef brisket that is tender, flavorful, and perfect for sandwiches or served over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F.
  2. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the beef brisket to the pot, searing it on both sides for about 3-4 minutes each until browned.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Remove the pot from the oven and let the brisket rest for 15 minutes. Shred the meat using two forks, mixing it with the sauce in the pot.
  7. Drizzle the apple cider vinegar over the shredded beef for added tanginess and mix well. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of liquid smoke to the sauce.
  • Serve the pulled brisket on toasted buns for a delicious sandwich or over rice for a hearty meal.
