Description

Capricciosa Pizza is a delicious Italian pizza topped with a variety of ingredients including mushrooms, artichoke hearts, black olives, and ham, all on a crispy crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup artichoke hearts, drained and quartered
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  7. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then layer the mushrooms, artichoke hearts, black olives, and ham on top.
  9. Sprinkle dried oregano and red pepper flakes (if using) over the toppings.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free pizza flour blend.
  • Add your favorite vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
